Mayham is made better by art

First things first

The majority of my artwork is still up on deviantart.com and not up here. If you would like to view it there please go to http://glimeron.deviantart.com. I will probably not be posting very much in the way of written work as I am trying to get ideas published before I put them online. Either way please let me know by using the contact me page if you have problems with any of the pictures or links.

Artist's statement

The main reason I work with fantasy is because that, to me, it is a major art genre. The pictures for the Lord of the Rings movies and books are beautiful renderings of characters and that I envy greatly. I want to produce beautiful scenes with a dream like quality. I want to express the characters that live within worlds only I can see. But I also want them to at least hint that there is something very real and material behind the work. This is probably also the reason why I like my art to have a sketchy feel to it, so that it’s easier to see the lines the image comes from. This will hopefully spark the imagination of the viewer to help them think what I was thinking when I put those first lines down. These lines draw the picture for the viewer in a very literal sense.

Sometimes the images blur because most of them are memories of characters and places I played with and knew when I was younger. Starting when I was ten I started making up my own stories from them and this is what came out of those stories. Though there are some newer scenes and ideas I think these images have probably been somewhere in the back of my mind for the past nine years.

Watercolor is also important to these memories. Since it seems to be the medium for memories in that it can blur very easily and always gives its subject a kind of dream like feel. Though I dislike it and find it very hard to work with it is the one thing that connects any of my work to a fine art idea and helps make my sketches into paintings and lets my own world flow into the paper. I primarily work with pen and ink or pencil in some semblance of sketching but should I ever want to paint, most of the time I use watercolor. It is a challenge that my grandmother left me and I hope that one day I will be able to paint as well as she once did.

Commissions

I do commissions for portraits, tattoos, paintings and drawings. Let me know what you would like and how much you believe you should pay for it. base pay for a portrait with pencil or charcoal is $15 (US currency) but that is negotiable depending on how it comes out. And the time given to finish it.
